A little bit of blue and white

The snow from a couple of days ago haa a thick coating of ice on it and it's a bit of a skating rink on my hill today but the sky is a beautiful blue with billowy clouds in varying shades of white racing by because of the blustery wind ushering in a change of weather. In the meantime, I'll enjoy the bright, sunny and cold day from indoors and contemplate the shades of country blues and whites within my favorite collections as well as those from a few area antique stores I visited this afternoon...

Slushy Day

The day after a snowfall and the weather is not improving but the yard is still pretty with crystalized branches and slippery paths. The fountain is glazed over and the bushes are still dusted with white, stiff frosting. Even gray days are beautifulin the garden.

Blooming Hill

Located in a rural area (well...as rural as it can be) in Northern Virginia near the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Blooming Hill is not exactly blooming today. However, it is awash in drifts of snow and crystal ice droplets. The winding driveway is covered in snow that has only been disturbed by bootprints and sled tracks. Trees, bushes and plants are swathed in cotton batting. No matter the weater, Blooming Hill is a beautiful place. It is my home.
